Fat Injection
Fat
injection is a technique used to plump out facial folds such as those between
the eyebrows or those on either side of the upper lip. It can also be used
to fill out areas of depressed scars over any part of the body.
The technique is usually performed under local anesthesia. After removal
of fat from one area such as the outer thigh, it is injected into the fold
or scar under treatment.
Fat removed with liposuction can also be used for lipoinjection.The correction
will usually last for up to six months after the first injection. Additional
injections may allow one to achieve a result that lasts up to several years.
There may be some degree of swelling and bruising, depending upon the area
treated. This can be covered with makeup and normal activities resumed,
usually within several days. Discomfort is minimal.
